これはiPadのソフトウェアとの整合性を保つため。
つまり、アプリは”折りたたみiPhone専用バージョン”じゃなくてもOKということになりますね。
ライセンスもそのまま使える可能性ありそうだし、デベロッパーも新たに開発しなくてもいいということにもなります。
ただ、VODとかは16:9なので、ちょっと古い仕様にも感じますけどね、、。
